Bit complicated! I live and work in the UK, British citizen. Very much want to get resident status in Greece. Up against it as need to buy a property but Lockdown is delaying this, although have booked flight for August. If I buy a property what are the restrictions in order to apply for residency as in do I live there for 3 months or can I travel between both countries (as I’d have a lot to sort out). I realise its last minute stuff but any advice or guidance gratefully received. Perhaps it’s a pipe dream…

      Hi @TeeCee,

In order to apply for residency in Greece you must be living in the country for at least 6 months and be able to provide proof documents that Greek authorities would require to issue the residency card such as AMKA, AFM, greek bank account and a permanent greek address. Buying a property worth of more than 250.000€ gives you the right to apply for the so called “Golden Visa” not for residency if you do not fulfil the above requirements. Acquiring Greek residency also requires you afterwards NOT to be leaving the country for more than 180 days continuously.

If you need any additional information do not hesitate to contact us and we could get you in touch with one of our BrexitDecoded Greek Champions to assist you further.

      Regards,
      George
